Animation festival, new Pride acts announced + Sussex Uni fine
🟥 The council has approved two more “red routes” for the city’s roads, starting with Western Road (between Holland Road and Montpelier Road) and then Queen’s Road. Here’s what it means from Brighton and Hove News:
➡ “The roads will be marked with double red lines to indicate no stopping, let alone parking, except in marked bays, with camera enforcement in prospect.”
🥪 Banjo’s sandwich shop, which has operated for more than 20 years, from a former public toilet in Norfolk Square, has closed, The Argus writes.
🗿 A group of final-year, University of Brighton students has created an “interactive trail” using QR codes that offers a decolonised perspective on items displayed in the Brighton Museum and Art Gallery. Decontextualise to Decolonise is available from Saturday (29th) to 14th May, The Argus reports.
🏳️🌈 New acts have been added to the Preston Park line-up for Brighton Pride, including Natalie Imbruglia and Will Young, the BBC reports.
🌲The council has promised that the city’s parks will be “made good more quickly” after events, such as Pride and festivals on Hove Lawns, according to Brighton and Hove News.
🩵 The funeral of renowned Brighton drag and cabaret artiste David Raven (aka Maisie Trollette) will take place on Thursday 3rd at St Mary’s Church in Kemptown, says GScene.
🏃 Ahead of the Brighton Marathon on Sunday 6th April, BBC News reports on a new app aimed at helping neurodivergent runners taking part. A pilot version will be launched in Preston Park on Saturday 5th.

🏫 The University of Sussex has been fined £585,000 by the Office for Students, the regulator for higher education, for “failing to uphold freedom of speech”, reports BBC News.

📞 Sussex Police is appealing for information after a window of Gunns Florist in Sydney Street, Brighton, was smashed on 3rd March. Images show a woman repeatedly pushing a wheelie bin into the shopfront at around 1am.
